Local Democracy In Action

Local Democracy in ActionCampaigners connected with Kings Cliffe Waste Watchers and Local Democracy in Action are bringing a legal challenge to the Secretary of State’s decision to allow the disposal of Low Level Radioactive waste at the East Northants Resource Management Facility (landfill). They have a dedicated website at LDiA.org.ukOpens in New Window they can also be found on Twitter.

KC Waste Watchers

King Cliffe Waste WatchersKings Cliffe Waste WatchersOpens in New Window website has been set up to help keep you informed and up-to-date with the proposed dumping of nuclear waste in Kings Cliffe landfill site. This is not just a local issue. This would be the first site of its kind to take nuclear waste and if it gets permission to go ahead the Government will be keen to offload more radioactive waste into landfill all over the country. Visit the KC Waste Watchers forumOpens in New Window.

New Recycling Scheme

Well done to East Northants Council for upgrading our home recycling service. It involves slightly more effort on our part but the reduction in waste for landfill is considerable, so it has got to be worth doing. In particular we can recycle a lot more packaging than before, and East Northants have reassured us that everything in the recycling bin is separated and recycled accordingly - check out East Northants RecyclingOpens in New Window if you want more information.

New to us all is the ability to recycle all our cooked and waste food for special composting. We have found the compostable caddy liners for the small silver kitchen caddy a must to minimise mess - available from Coral ProductsOpens in New Window.

We've also found that it's best to wrap very smelly things like a chicken carcass or fishy remains in newspaper and put them straight in the larger food caddy outside.
